Leadership transition for the global and national non-profit professional and educational organizations devoted to transgender health occurs every two years.

(New York City, New York) - The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) today announced that Asa Radix, MD, PhD, MPH, will begin serving as the organization's new president for a two-year term. Dr. Radix is the Executive Vice President at the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York City, an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. They have over 20 years of experience providing primary care services to trans and gender diverse people.

In addition to Dr. Radix, the new WPATH executive committee includes President Elect Loren Schechter, MD, a plastic surgeon from Rush University, Chicago, Stephen M. Rosenthal, MD (Treasurer), a pediatric endocrinologist at UCSF, and Chris Mclachlan, MSocSc (Secretary), a clinical psychologist from South Africa. Marci L. Bowers, M.D, gynecologist and surgeon, remains on the board as Past President.

"I am grateful to my WPATH colleagues for their continued dedication to advancing evidence-based gender affirming care for people around the world and I look forward to working with the Executive Committee and our Board of Directors to continue to support WPATH's mission," Dr. Radix said. "Together, we will continue to work to promote evidence-based care, education, research, public policy, and respect in transgender health."

WPATH is a non-profit professional and educational organization devoted to transgender health representing regional associations around the world including USPATH and EPATH.
